Sarah O'Brien born Emily O'Brien is a baby who was switched two days after birth with Emily Stinson.

History

When Sarah was born, her parents, Beth and Greg O'Brien, named her Emily. However, when she was two days old, Duncan Stinson, after seeing his own daughter Sarah, switched the two girls and Emily started living with the Stinsons as Sarah.

However, when they were nine months old, Emily (born Sarah), who was now living with the O'Briens, had serious neurological symptoms. Testing revealed that she had a genetic neurological problem and that Greg and Beth weren't her parents. They checked hospital records and found that Emily and Sarah had been switched when they were two days old.

After bringing in Sarah, Duncan and Melinda Stinson expressed shock and disbelief about the switch. When visitation records indicated that Duncan had switched the girls, he said that he'd done so because he didn't want a sick child. They set up a switch and then traded the girls back, with the O'Briens taking Sarah and Melinda taking Emily. They gave each other trips on their respective daughters and Melinda encouraged Beth to look at Sarah when she struggled to accept her.
