Sara Giamatti was the wife of Stan Giamatti and a radiology tech at Seattle Grace Hospital.

History

Ambulance Crash

Sara was called down to the ambulance bay when her husband was in a car accident and they knew he was not going to survive after they pulled him out of the rig. She talked to him for a few minutes and said goodbye. She was then pulled away by a firefighter so they could get Ray out. ("Crash Into Me, Part 1")

Sara later saw Meredith in the hospital and asked her about Ray. Sara said she needed to leave. She asked Meredith to tell Ray she was sorry she couldn't stay. Meredith relayed Ray's apology for not being able to save Stan. She asked if Ray was going to make it. Meredith said she hoped he would, but Sara wouldn't be there. Sara asked how she was supposed to stay there when her husband was dead somewhere in the hospital. Meredith said if Ray survived, he'd be all alone and she'd be all alone. She said it's better to have someone. Inspired by this, Sara sat by Ray's bedside after his surgery. ("Crash Into Me, Part 2")
