Paul James is a longtime friend of Richard Webber and father of Angela James.

Paul was driving his daughter Angela, when he says he hit the brake and the car didn't stop, causing them to run into a tree. They were both taken to the ER, where Angela was found to have a broken clavicle and a torn artery that needed surgery. Paul claimed he was fine, but Richard Webber ran labs that showed he was diabetic. He said that the diabetic nerve pain probably caused the accident. Paul said he hadn't told Angela and was taking better care of himself. Richard encouraged him to tell Angela the truth, which he did.
