Merrin Dungey played Naomi Bennett in the season three Grey's Anatomy episode The Other Side of This Life, which served as a backdoor pilot for the spin-off series Private Practice.

Biography

Merrin is the youngest daughter to Don Dungey, a general services manager. When she was young, she was active in ballet, dance, and piano. She was also a accomplished ice skater. Merrin graduated from Rio Americano High School in 1989. She went to UCLA and earned a degree of Bachelor of Arts in 1993.

Dungey has one sister, Channing Dungey, who was named president of ABC Entertainment in February 2016.

Career

Dungey was originally cast for the role of Naomi, but she was replaced by Audra McDonald for creative reasons.
