Matt Smithson is the father of Jessica Smithson.
History
Matt was at the hospital with his daughter, Jessica, who had Tay-Sachs. She was nearing the end of her life and he didn't want to accept that, so he spent the day trying to put together the money to get her to Mexico for an experimental treatment. At the end of the day, Bailey finally got him to accept that Jessica was going to die and he held her while she went.
