Notes and Trivia
- Isaiah initially wanted to audition for the role of Derek Shepherd.
- On June 7, 2007, it was announced that Isaiah Washington was released from his contract. This was reportedly due to the controversy of Washington using the derogatory word "faggot" towards cast mate T.R. Knight during an off camera argument and following a physical altercation with Patrick Dempsey.
- In March 2014, it was confirmed that Burke would be returning to guest-star in a May episode of Season 10. Shonda Rhimes quoted the reason as following: "It's important to me that Cristina's journey unfolds exactly as it should. Burke is vital to that journey – he gives her story that full circle moment we need to properly say goodbye to our beloved Cristina Yang."
