At Pete's funeral, Catherine told Violet a story of when she was chopping garlic and suddenly started convulsing. Her husband called 911, but by the time the EMTs arrived, her heart had stopped. She was defibrillated three times and taken to the ER, where Pete did 20 minutes of CPR and defibrillated her three more times. He didn't give up on her, which she appreciated.
