Augusta King is the mother of Charlotte King.
History
Big Daddy's Death
When her husband was dying, Charlotte came home to Alabama to turn off the machines and say goodbye. During this time, Augusta was holed up in her room on drugs. ("Homeward Bound")
Charlotte's Wedding
Augusta came to Los Angeles for Charlotte and Cooper's wedding. Charlotte showed her around and despite being introduced to Cooper's parents, they kept things separate. Augusta quickly picked up on the fact that the Freedmans didn't like Charlotte.
After Amelia's plea that the Freedmans get to know Charlotte better, they talked to Augusta at the party. The three of them agreed that Charlotte and Cooper shouldn't get married and told their children that.
After hearing that, Charlotte and Cooper flew to Las Vegas to elope instead of having the wedding. ("Something Old, Something New")
